Việc chó con bú rút lượng sữa quá lớn tại một thời điểm làm cho nồng độ can-xi huyết của chó mẹ tụt dưới 8,0 mg/ml gây ra mất cân bằng can-xi, rối loạn hoạt động thần kinh trung ương, trung khu điều hòa thân nhiệt và hệ hô hấp, tuần hoàn và vận động.
- Biểu hiện sốt sữa ở chó mẹ
Chó mẹ đột ngột bỏ ăn, toàn thân co giật, run rẩy, cơ thể cứng đơ.Chó mẹ bị sốt trên 40 độ C nhưng khi bạn sờ vào vùng bụng thì lại thấy không quá nóng.Có các biểu hiện như: Bồn chồn, hồi hộp, thở hổn hển, mất phương hướng
