The international training on Sustainable management of animal diseases held by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Vietnam National University of Agriculture

The global burden of animal diseases is believed to be huge. Animal diseases hamper normal animal development and animal welfare, which can lead to fatalities. Today, people only have a limited and partial picture of the problem. Sustainable management of animal diseases has a great potential to significantly contribute to diminishing the global burden of animal diseases, which veterinary medicine strives to change. Therefore, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Vietnam National University of Agriculture (FVM-VNUA) held an international training on the Sustainable management of animal diseases with the participants of twenty Indian students from College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry of DUVASU University and College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry of Central Agriculture University, to the purposes of instruction, training, friendly exchanges and cooperation between Vietnam and India. A five-week training course was held from November 28th to December 28th, 2023. Twenty Indian students from College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry of DUVASU University, and College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry of Central Agriculture University visited and studied at Department of Pathology, Department of Parasitology, Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Department of Animal Surgery and Theriogenology, Department of Veterinary Public Health, Department of Internal Diseases – Diagnosis – Pharmacology – Toxicology, Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Key Laboratory of Veterinary Biotechnology. Students were guided to perform diagnostic techniques like Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), and real-time Polymerase Chain reaction (qPCR) etc. to identify pathogen animal pathogens and diseases. Besides, Indian students can perform the diagnostic procedure and understand the mechanism of the pathogen for prevention. More than that, students also had a chance to go to the dairy farms to learn about artificial insemination and embryo transfer on cows. This was a great chance to meet and be trained with the top experts in veterinary medicine in Vietnam. After the training course, the students have developed clinical practice and laboratory skills in diagnosing animal pathogens and diseases, as well as prevention and treatment methods. Furthermore, this was a mark for the veterinary medicine educational co-operation between VNUA, CAU, and DUVASU.
