Bệnh giảm bạch cầu ở mèo hay còn gọi là bệnh viêm ruột truyền nhiễm ở mèo (Felien infectious Enteritis). Bệnh do một loại virus gây ra, với đặc điểm bệnh xuất hiện đột ngột, con vật nôn mửa, tiêu chảy và số lượng bạch cầu giảm rõ rết. Bệnh lây lan nhanh, khi bị bệnh, tỷ lệ tử vòng rất cao từ 50 – 90%.

Nguyên nhân gây bệnh
- Bệnh giảm bạch cầu ở mèo do một loại DNA virus có tên Felien pavovirus(F.P.V) nằm trong nhóm Pavovirus gây ra.
- Virus có sức đề kháng cao với điều kiện ngoại cảnh nên chúng có thể tồn tại lâu trong môi trường.
Bệnh giảm bạch cầu ở mèo lây qua đường nào?
- Toàn bộ động vật họ mèo đề mắc bệnh. Mẫn cảm nhất là mèo ba tháng đến 1 năm tuổi. Mèo lớn mắc bệnh thường ở thể nhẹ. Chồn cũng mấn cảm với bệnh.
- Virus xâm nhập vào cơ thể mèo qua đường hô hấp, tiêu hóa. Chúng vào hạch amidan, hạch ruột rồi vào máu đi khắp cơ thể, đặc biệt là những mô có sự phân chia tế bào nhanh và là những cơ quan có thẩm quyền miễn dịch như tuyến ưc, tủy xương, lách và các nang lympho ở nếp gấp ruột.
- Virus phá hủy các mô ở những tổ chức này làm số lượng bạch cầu bị giảm.
- Mèo đã khỏi bệnh vẫn có thể đào thải virus kéo dài vài tháng.
Triệu chứng
Thời gian ủ bệnh giảm bạch cầu mèo từ 2 – 3 ngày, có thể kéo dài từ 5 – 7 ngày.
- Thể quá cấp tính
- Bệnh xảy ra đột ngột, con vật đau vùng bụng, thân nhiệt hạ, suy nhược nghiêm trọng và chết sau 24 giờ (dễ nghi mèo trúng độc)
- Thể cấp tính
- Mèo bị sốt cao 40oC trong 24 giờ đầu, bỏ ăn, nằm không vận động, mèo trong trạng thái vô cảm, lông xù, bẩn, niêm mạc nhợt nhạt.
- Rối loạn tiêu hóa: Khát nước dữ dội, nôn ra mật có bọt, tiêu chảy nặng, phân mùi thối khắm dôi khi lẫn máu. Con vật có phản ứng đau khi sờ bụng.
- Bệnh tiến triển từ 2 – 3 ngày. Thân nhiệt hạ thấấp hơn mức bình thường, sau đó hôn mê và chết, tỷ lệ chết khá cao từ 50 – 80%.
- Những con còn sống qua 5 ngày thường qua khỏi, mèo có thể bình phục sau vài tuần, lượng bạch cầu lại tăng lên bình thường.
- Thể ẩn tính
- Phổ biến ở mèo trưởng thành, mèo bị sốt nhẹ và giảm bạch cầu, ngoài ra không có biểu hiện triệu chứng lâm sàng nào khác.
- Mèo khỏi bệnh có miễn dịch kéo dài.
- Thể thần kinh
- Gặp ở mèo con, do mèo mẹ bị bệnh trong thời kỳ mang thai, mèo con đẻ ra mất khả năng điều hòa vận động, yếu ớt, tỷ lệ nuôi sống thấp.
Chẩn đoán
- Chẩn đoán lâm sàng dựa vào đặc điểm dịch tễ và triệu chứng lâm sàng: bệnh giảm bạch cầu ở mèo xảy ra ở mèo từ 3 tháng tuổi đến 1 năm tuổi. Mèo bệnh sốt li bì, có triệu chứng tiêu hóa, viêm ruột, tiêu chảy, bạch cầu giảm rõ rệt.
- Chẩn đoán phi lâm sàng: test giảm bạch cầu ở mèo sử dụng phương pháp PCR chẩn đoán xét nghiệm bệnh sẽ thu được kết quả chính xác nhất nhưng tốn thời gian và cần phòng thí nghiệm để chẩn đoán.
- Thay vào đó hiện nay để chẩn đoán tại thực địa có kỹ thuật PCR cải tiến POCKIT iiPCR phù hợp để chẩn đoán nhanh tại thực địa với thời gian từ 1 – 2 tiếng và kết quả vẫn có độ chính xác tương đương với kỹ thuật PCR phòng thí nghiệm.

- Mèo trên một năm tuổi mỗi năm tiêm vaccine một lần.
