Các triệu chứng chủ yếu là sốt cao, ói, tiêu chảy, co giật, tê liệt… Heo có triệu chứng như bị thần kinh, chảy nhiều nước dãi.
Heo con cai sữa và heo thịt: tỉ lệ chết của heo cai sữa từ 15 – 20%, heo con và heo thịt là dưới 5%. Các triệu chứng chủ yếu là sốt cao, bỏ ăn, ho, chảy nước mũi, tiêu chảy, ói, triệu chứng thần kinh. Đặc biệt là bệnh hô hấp do vi khuẩn (viêm màng phổi) xuất hiện nhiều.
Heo mang thai: thân nhiệt tăng cao, bỏ ăn, táo bón… sau đó sẽ từ từ hồi phục. Nái có thể bị sẩy thai hoặc đẻ non. Nếu nái nhiễm vi-rút vào đầu thời kì mang thai, thai sẽ chết và tiêu thai, sau đó nái sẽ lên giống lại. Trường hợp nái nhiễm vi-rút vào giữa kì mang thai, thai sẽ chết khô. Nhiễm vào cuối kì mang thai, heo sẽ đẻ non hoặc heo con sẽ còi cọc.
